Georg Fritzsch (cello)

Originally from Meissen in former East Germany, Mr. Fritzsch enjoys a double career as a cellist and conductor. From 1980 until 1986, he studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, majoring in cello. From 1986 until 1993, he studied conducting in Dresden and in Leipzig. He was principal cellist of the Gera Philharmonic Orchestra for 10 years beginning in 1986. Aside from performing with the Thüringer Salonquintett, he has worked as a free-lance conductor since 1996, appearing as a guest conductor with numerous orchestras in Germany, Belgium, Holland, South Africa, and Turkey. In 1998, Mr. Fritzsch became General Music Director for the symphony orchestras in Hagen and Siegen in western Germany.
