Aside from being a pianist, Mr. Eichhorn is
also a conductor and percussionist. He studied at the Zwickau Conservatory and later at
the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Hochschule für Musik in Leipzig. After
graduating with a degree in percussion in 1964, he finished his conducting studies in
1971. Before beginning his conducting career, he was a percussionist in the Gewandhaus
Orchestra in Leipzig. He has held conducting posts in the Thuringian cities of Gera and
Jena, and is currently conductor of the municipal theater in Eisenach. Aside from his
chamber music activities with the Thüringer Salonquintett, he is a much sought after
vocal accompanist. |
